Who will bag the gold for the FIVB WORLD GRAND PRIX 2012?

After the elimination rounds, the top 5 teams plus the host country advanced to the final round. USA, Turkey, Brazil, Thailand,Cuba and China, the host, made it. It was a very tough elimination since all 16 teams were really good. Sad to say Germany, Poland, Serbia, Japan, Korea and Dominican Republic— did not advance to the finals. Better luck next time. Serbia won bronze last year and Brazil took the silver. Could USA bag the gold again? I’m very excited!

It was so interesting first match. USA and Brazil clashed in an epic 5 set, (3-2) 25-19, 25-20, 20-25, 13-25, 15-13.  The Brazilians didn’t lose hope to stop USA and try to outsmart them, but they did not have enough juice to win the game. Massive blocks and powerful spikes were the best weapons from the Americans, and it really worked out.

On the second day, USA nailed the former Asian champ Thailand in four sets, (3-1) 25-18,27-25,18-25,25-18. The next day the Americans swept Turkey in four sets too, (3-1) 25-18,25-23,21-25,25-20. Yesterday was also a lucky day, the team continued to win four in a row when the Americans outdueled Cuba in three straight sets, (3-0) 25-14,26-24,25-14.

Today is the big day! Final battle for CHINA and USA to win the gold. It can be noted that USA won the grand prix 2010 and 2011 title. Would it be the same?

We will see and cheer if they can. The match will be at 7:00 p.m. tonight, China Standard Time. For more live volleyball actions, please visit www.fivb.com
